“If two systems interact with each other for a certain period of time and then are separated, can no longer be described as two separate systems, but somehow, they become a single system. In other words, what happens to one of them continues to influence each other, even if distant miles or light years”

Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac (Bristol, August 8th 1902 – Tallahassee, October 20th 1984)

Marsèlleria presents the first Italian solo show by artist Morgane Tschiember (1976) curated by Geraldine Blais, produced in collaboration with STABILA and STYLNOVE, partners of NUOVE//Residency, residency program for artists in the industrial district in Nove (Vicenza).

Morgane Tschiember imagines a new body of works, stemmed from her recent experience in the two companies devoted to the production and manufacturing of earthenware and focuses on the analysis of the generative and processual nature of earth as material. Across two floors of the space of Marsèlleria in via Paullo, the artist presents a reflection on sculptural volumes, in a dialogue between industrial production and tradition. Alongside two large installations, taking as a starting point various extensions of the brick, building element par excellence, the artists inserts in the space a series of suspended sculptures, generated by the collapse of prototypes and models such as vases, called Shibari, which meaning relates to the old Japanese ritual of tying bodies with thin ropes.

As suggested by the title of the exhibition (∂ + m) ψ = 0, in a quasi anthropological way Morgane Tschiember focuses her attention onto those bonds and relationships which become form through the exploration of raw materials and whose production processes raise complex economical, social and environmental questions.

Born in 1976. Lives and works in Paris.

Morgane Tschiember works primarily with sculpture, exploring, with materials as different as glass, ceramics and concrete, the frontiers between painting and sculpture, object and architecture, form and context.

She has participated in international residency programs, including Nuove//Residency, Nove (Italy) and ISCP, NY (USA).
